Way Back Home

September, 11th. The wind blows slowly across the tress. Rustic leaves took to the air in the elegant dance. When the wind calms, the dance ends and the leaves lands into the ground. Fallen leaves has woken up a girl which sleeps in the park bench. This girl named Angel, an unlucky person which forces to live in the street since her parent divorced. Her father chooses to leave her mother for another girl, and her mother has passed away. It is really hard for Angel to continue her life, got no love and affection from anyone, and got no home to rest. The only thing can calm her down is a crystal meth. Being a drug abuser is not her choice, she got too much problem to be solved and the only thing which can make her  feel the pleasure and delight is a drug.

The sun goes up, Angel wakes up from her un-comfort rest in the park bench. Her face looks so pale, with messy hair and white lips. Angel has to go to the shopping complex immediately, She has to earn some money to feed herself. Every single day and night she stands in a shopping complex, offering a magazine to every person across her. So many people passing and most people doesn’t notice that Angel is exists. People are too busy to respond angel’s offer. She never give up, she is trying again and again and she never tired. But today, Angel is so unlucky, she didn’t sell any magazine at all and it means Angel doesn’t get any money to buy any drug or food.

That day was a very difficult day for Angel. She feels so pathetic. She regrets being born into this world. Angel feels so lonely between so many people around her. She got no attention from anyone. Unconsciously, she drops a tear from her round eyes. She misses her family, she misses her childhood, when her family still normal, with a parent which love her, and a sister who plays with her whole day. She needs a couple grams of crystal meth to calm her down. She feels unable to handle it more. She starts to think over and over again to earn some money. She ready for doing anything to get the money for the meth. The only chances she get to earn money is being a prostitute. Her mind rejects her idea of being a prostitute, but in the other side, she really need money, she really needs drugs. This condition makes her really tortured.

Couples minutes later, recklessly she decides to start this job. She wipes her tears and stands in a hurry. She walks to the North, to the Saint Nirvana Bridge. She keeps walking and ignores her mind along the way. The only thing she thinks is earn some money for some meth. As she knows, habitually there are couples girl there sell a love to a strange men. She believes she belong to there, she got her chances there.

After reach the bridge, she stands besides the road. With her slim and tall body, huge brown eyes, and long red hair, it was pretty easy for her to attract any men’s attention. 14 minutes later, a 1996 Caddilac sedan drives slowly toward her. She feels nervous at the first, but she forces herself to be courageous. The car stops in front of her, a 42 years old man sits behind the dashboard. Angel walks slowly to the car, she looks inside through the window. She throws her smile into that man, those man looks embarrassed because of it. They have a little negotiation. Then, That man opens the car door, and it means they have a deal.

They drive along the night into a small hotel in the suburbs. During the travel, that man asks Angel lot of questions, but Angel doesn’t looks so interested to have a chat with that man. Angel only answered as needed.

As they arrive, the old man pays the room rent, followed by Angel to get in the room. It’s a small hotel for road traveler. The old man stands in front of the mirror as Angel is after him, rubbing her chest to the old man’s back. She whisper the word, then slips her fingers to old man’s breast pocket. She pulls away couples of 20 bucks then Angel lie down on the bed with seducing face.

Half of her heart rejects what she has done, it still in denial of having herself becoming prostitute. As rejection shows, the tears flow like waterfall from the corner of her eyes. The old man doesn’t know, no, he doesn’t care. Whatever says, she just wants to end this body torment to another one. Starving and begging for meth is more torturing than what she does right now.
Then the show is over.

Having couples buck in her pocket make her more confident. Getting out from that shitty place, Angel goes to another place nearby. She walks for 5 minutes and the road is getting narrower. It’s a small alley with low light in the end of the road. Some homeless guy like her sit while their back lean on the wall. They don’t get clear sight as they barely unconscious. This is the place where the drug seller working on business.

Angel rides the last bus to her hometown, the Marryland village. She has a sister that is so kind to her, and a house left by her mom when she is dead. Her sister will gladly accept Angel however her condition is. It is the last thing that Angel has in the world, at least a place that can be called home.

It’s a small room at the corner of second floor. The room is too isolated for Angel, but a perfect place to get her high, or even higher. It is too nostalgic, however this is the place where she was born and raised. Angel turns the lights off and starts lighting some candles. She takes away small tool looks like bong from underneath her bed. She starts lighting, and pouring some blue metallic meth crystal, and sucks the smoke from the bong. As the seconds by she forgets everything.

The pain, the starving stomach, pale face which even getting paler, she falls down to her bed unconscious. Angel meets her mom, she runs toward her and start hugging her. This time Angel will not going to lose any grip to her. She gets close to her mom and whisper something to her ear, ”I miss you” and her mom begin smiling.
